Kiba Season Goat & Sheep Heat Detector
A probe and a display that give you a number, so you breed her on a reading instead of on a standing heat you may have missed in the night.

What’s in the box
| Kiba Season Goat heat detector with probe | 1× |
| Rechargeable 9 V battery, fitted in the grip | 1× |
| Instruction leaflet with the maker’s reading guide | 1× |
- Heat you can read. A doe stands in heat for a day or two, often starting at night, and a quiet ewe may never show it at all. The display gives you a number for every animal, whether you saw her flag her tail or not.
- Three readings, two that agree. Press the switch and three readings come up three seconds apart. Use the two that agree; the detector switches itself off ten seconds later.
- Breed on the way back up. The reading falls as she comes into heat and climbs back as ovulation approaches. The maker’s guide for sheep and goats, in the box, gives the breeding band.
- Waterproof, rechargeable. The body is waterproof, so the probe rinses under the tap, and the 9 V battery slides out of the grip and charges from a USB phone charger.
Kiba Season Goat is a breeding tool for experienced hands. It is not a veterinary device and does not guarantee a pregnancy. Readings are a guide to timing: keep watching her too, and have your vet see any doe or ewe that reads far outside the maker’s guide. Breeding cattle instead? See Kiba Season Cattle: the same meter, with the page written for cows.

The day that decides it
Breed on a number, not a guess.
A doe stands in heat for a day or two and a ewe for less, often overnight, and on a small farm many heats are missed, which is why so much AI in goats and sheep is done on a synchronised calendar instead of on the animal. Kiba Season Goat gives you a reading in about ten seconds on the milking stand, morning and evening, so you can watch her come into heat and choose the time to breed, with the Scope or with your AI technician.
How it is used
From a clean probe to the right hour

Clean the probe
Wipe the probe with a little dish soap on a damp cloth and rinse it. The maker says to use it straight away, wet, without drying it. Clean her vulva the same way.

In, still, read
With her standing quietly on the milking stand, slide the probe in gently as far as it goes without force, hold it still and press the switch. Three readings come up three seconds apart; note the two that agree.

Write it down
Read her morning and evening and write the numbers down. As she comes into heat the reading drops; when it turns and climbs back into the band in the maker’s guide, she is coming up to ovulation.

Breed on the way up
Inseminate while the reading is in the maker’s breeding band on its way back up. With Kiba Scope Goat you see the cervix on the screen while you do it.

Charges like a phone
A battery you can charge.
The 9 V battery sits in the grip under a screw cap with an O-ring seal. Unscrew the cap, slide the battery out and charge it from a USB phone charger through its own USB-C port.
- Rechargeable 9 V battery
- USB-C port on the battery
- Screw cap with O-ring seal

Rinse it
Waterproof where it counts.
The maker builds the body waterproof, so the probe goes under the tap or into a bucket of soapy water after every animal. Keep the battery cap screwed down and it can live on the milking stand all season.
- Waterproof body
- Rinse between animals
- Works from 0 to 50 °C
Side by side
Reading, or watching
| What matters | Kiba Season Goat | Watching for heat |
|---|---|---|
| Night heats | Still low on the morning reading | Missed unless someone was there |
| Timing | A number that falls, then climbs back | Tail flagging and a buck rag, if you see it |
| Quiet does and ewes | Read like any other | Easy to miss |
| Time per animal | About ten seconds on the stand | Watching twice a day |
Readings are a guide to timing and the bands are the maker’s guide for sheep and goats. A doe or ewe with a discharge, a recent uterine treatment or a reading far outside the guide should be seen by your vet. Heat detection does not guarantee a pregnancy.
Our promise
On the stand before she cycles.
