- Check them yourself. The slim rectal probe sits flat in a gloved hand and the 5.5-inch screen shows a live black-and-white picture of the uterus: the pregnancy, the embryo and, once it has started, the heartbeat.
- Made for rectal scanning. A 6.5 MHz linear probe on a cable, the type used for rectal pregnancy checks in cows and mares, with a picture up to 24 cm deep.
- Freeze and measure. Freeze the picture to measure a vesicle or a heartbeat on screen. The measurement menu includes distance, area, volume, heart rate and an expected due date.
- Hands free in the barn. Hang the scanner at your chest on its strap so one hand holds the probe and the other is free. It runs on a rechargeable 2,200 mAh battery and packs into an aluminium case.
For trained hands. Rectal scanning carries a risk of injury, highest in horses: if you have not been trained, have your vet or a trained technician scan with it. Kiba Echo is not a veterinary device and does not diagnose anything. Scanning dogs or cats? See Kiba Echo, with the micro-convex probe for a small belly.

Open or bred, on screen.
A pregnancy check usually means a vet visit and a fee per head or per mare, often more than once a season. Kiba Echo Cattle & Horse is a handheld rectal ultrasound, so a trained hand can check their own cows and mares when it suits them, and call the vet for what needs one.
How it is used
From charged to a frozen picture

Charge and glove
Charge the battery and plug the probe into the socket on the side. Have arm-length obstetric sleeves and plenty of lubricant ready; neither is in the box.

Restrain her
Scan a cow in a chute or headlock and a mare in stocks, never loose. Hang the scanner on its strap at your chest so the screen faces you.

Scan by picture
With the probe in a well-lubricated, gloved hand, scan while you watch the screen. Fluid looks black, so an early pregnancy shows as a dark round or oval shape with the embryo inside.

Freeze and measure
Press freeze to hold the picture, then measure size, heart rate or the expected due date. Write it down against the cow or the mare, and clean the probe before the next one.

On a strap
Hands where you need them.
The scanner hangs at your chest on its strap with the screen tilted up, so one hand works the probe and the other steadies the animal or holds the tail.
- Carry strap in the box
- Rechargeable 2,200 mAh battery
- Scanner about 18 × 12 × 6 cm

Truck to chute
Everything in one case.
The scanner, the probe, the battery and the charger travel together in an aluminium case with foam slots, from the truck to the chute or the stocks in one hand.
- Aluminium carry case
- Charger with US plug
- 4 kg packed
Side by side
Your own scanner, or a call-out
| What matters | Kiba Echo | Vet call-out |
|---|---|---|
| When | Whenever it suits you | When the vet can come |
| Cost | Once, for every season | A fee per call-out or per head |
| What you see | A live picture on your own screen | The vet’s screen and their read-out |
| Twins or anything unclear | Call your vet | Your vet |
Your vet remains the right choice for a mare carrying twins, for any animal with a health concern, and for anyone who has not been trained to scan rectally.
Our promise
Have it ready before the next breeding season.
