| Straw basket on a steel rod | 1× |
| Mains adapter, US plug on US orders | 1× |

- Thaw at the cow. A straw thawed in the house and carried out in a cold pocket loses heat before it reaches her. Kiba Thaw rides in the truck cup holder and thaws it a few steps from the chute.
- Temperature and seconds. Set the temperature and the countdown on the red display. It holds the water at that temperature and the timer tells you when to lift the straw out.
- A basket for the straw. The straw drops into a small perforated basket on a steel rod. Lift the rod and the straw comes up with it, with no fishing in the water.
- Made for cold mornings. The maker rates the 3,200 mAh battery at 7 to 9 hours at room temperature and 2 to 3 hours at minus 20 °C. On the 12 V lead it runs from the truck.

The last few steps
Thawed at the chute.
Frozen semen sits at minus 196 °C in the tank and gets a few seconds in warm water to come back to life. Kiba Thaw holds that water at the temperature you set, counts the seconds and lives in the truck, so the straw goes from tank to cup to gun to cow without a cold walk in between.
How it is used
From the tank to the gun

Fill and switch on
Pour warm water into the cup and switch it on. From room temperature the maker says it reaches 37 °C in about 15 to 20 minutes on mains and about half an hour on battery, so start it on the way out.

Temperature and timer
Set the temperature and the countdown with the buttons beside the display. The display shows the seconds above and the water temperature below, and the buttons lock after five seconds so a knock does not change them.

Tank to cup
When the heating light shows the water is at temperature, lift the straw out of the tank with tweezers, drop it into the basket and start the countdown.

Dry, cut, load
When the timer runs out, lift the basket, dry the straw with a paper towel, cut the end and load it into the rod of Kiba Scope Cattle or your own AI gun.

Built for winter breeding
Warm water at minus 20.
The maker rates the battery at 7 to 9 hours at room temperature, 4 to 5 hours at 4 °C and 2 to 3 hours at minus 20 °C. On a frozen morning, plug it into the truck and it keeps going.
- 3,200 mAh built-in battery
- Rated down to minus 20 °C
- Heats from all sides

Three ways to power it
House, truck or battery.
Charge it on the mains adapter overnight, run it from the 12 V lead in the truck, or carry it to the barn on its own battery. A splash cover keeps water out of the switch and the charging port.
- Mains adapter in the box
- 12 V vehicle lead in the box
- Splash cover over the port
Side by side
A cup that holds, or a thermos
| What matters | Kiba Thaw | A thermos and a thermometer |
|---|---|---|
| Temperature | Holds the one you set | Drops from the minute you fill it |
| Timer | Countdown on the display | Your phone, in a glove |
| Getting the straw out | Lift the basket | Fish for it with tweezers |
| In the truck | Sits in the cup holder | Rolls around on the seat |
Your semen supplier’s thawing instructions decide the temperature and the time. Kiba Thaw holds the temperature; it does not choose it for you.
Our promise
Warm water for every straw, all season.
